The Penthouse

Eclectic & Opulent

Though spacious and airy, this downtown penthouse was lacking appropriate furniture as well as other fine details befitting its $3.3 million price tag. Designed by the client, for his own male tastes, his home was the bachelor of all pads: Elevator into the property, seven televisions, seven animal hides, seven patios, one totem pole, a living room devoted to his dogs, baby grand piano in lieu of dining. I wanted to be this man. I wanted to live this way. Then I met his cat.

We eradicated the client's porn vibe with the addition of high-end art and one-of-a-kind furniture. To appeal to both genders, we combined a rich palate of jewel tones and luxury fabrics. He wasn't impressed. We didn't care. It's important to ensure that your home offers more than just standing room, yoga, and sex. Sarah was our female compass and the client eyed her the way his cat eyed me.

Dekora is a talent house as well as Canada's leading home staging company. The designers also moonlight as musicians, photographers, sculptors, painters, actors, architects, writers, illustrators, and now television personalities with the success of The Stagers. All of the art on this job is the work of Jay Hodgins and I bought my first real piece from this collection.

I love working with power real estate agent Lynn Johnson - she sends so many eccentric types my way.
